From

₹19,900

For travellers who want the offbeat side of Himachal rather than the highlight reel. The Manali and Kasol days are there, but the back half moves into Jalori, Shoja and Sainj — village stays, forest walks and the buffer zone of the Great Himalayan National Park, where almost nobody goes.

Trip at a glance

  • Solang Valley and Manali sights
  • Tosh and the Parvati Valley
  • Jibhi and Shoja forest walks
  • Jalori Pass and optional Serolsar Lake trek
  • Sainj Valley and the GHNP entry region

Day by day

7 days, start to finish — travel, activities and where you sleep each night.

  1. 1

    Day 1

    Arrive and drive to Manali

Pick-up at Chandigarh, Bhuntar or Delhi and start the climb via Bilaspur, Mandi and Kullu, the Beas running alongside for most of it. Lunch halt at Pandoh or Kullu. Reach Manali by evening (6–8 hrs from Chandigarh) and check in. Evening on Mall Road, café hopping in Old Manali and light shopping. Overnight in Manali.

  2. 2

    Day 2

    Manali sightseeing and Solang Valley

Morning around town: the cedar-shingled Hadimba Devi Temple in the deodar forest, the sulphur hot springs and temple at Vashisht, and the Tibetan monastery. Afternoon at Solang Valley, where paragliding, ATV rides, zipline and seasonal snow activities are available on direct payment. If time and weather allow, continue through the Atal Tunnel to Sissu for the Lahaul side. Overnight in Manali.

  3. 3

    Day 3

Manali to Kasol — into Parvati Valley

Breakfast and check out by 9–10 AM, then drive down the Kullu valley via Bhuntar and turn into the Parvati gorge. En-route stops at the Kullu shawl factory and the rafting point (seasonal). Reach Kasol by mid-afternoon and check in. Evening walk along the Parvati river and the Israeli cafés and bakeries the village is known for. Overnight in Kasol.

  4. 4

    Day 4

    Kasol to Tosh village

Drive to Barshaini (about 1.5 hrs) and take the short hike or a local cab up to Tosh, the last village in this arm of the valley. Spend the day among stone-and-wood houses, cafés on the edge of the slope and views back down the gorge — an easy, low-strain day. Return to Kasol by 5–6 PM for the riverside cafés. Overnight in Kasol.

  5. 5

    Day 5

Kasol to Jibhi — the quiet valley

Depart by 9 AM and cross into the Banjar valley, reaching Jibhi by mid-afternoon. Check in to a riverside cottage in the deodar forest. A 15–20 minute forest walk brings you to Jibhi Waterfall; the rest of the evening is a bonfire and, if the sky is clear, some of the best stargazing of the trip. Overnight in Jibhi.

  6. 6

    Day 6

Jalori Pass, Shoja and Sainj Valley

Early drive to Jalori Pass, with the option of the 1–1.5 hr forest trek to Serolsar Lake. Continue to Shoja for short walks and viewpoints, then drop into Sainj Valley in the afternoon — riverside villages at the entry to the Great Himalayan National Park, and about as far from the tourist trail as this region gets. Overnight in Shoja, Sainj or Jibhi.

  7. 7

    Day 7

    Departure

Check out after breakfast and transfer to Chandigarh, Delhi or the nearest airport. Trip ends.
