Road Trips
Spiti & Kinnaur Circuit — 6N/7D
Overview
The best-balanced Spiti itinerary we run. A rest and explore day in Kalpa builds acclimatisation properly, a night in Tabo means you see the thousand-year-old murals unhurried, and Dhankar and the Kaza villages follow at a sane altitude gain. Shimla in, Manali out.
Highlights
- Full day in Kalpa under Kinner Kailash
- Roghi village and Suicide Point
- Night in Tabo, the 'Ajanta of the Himalaya'
- Dhankar fort monastery
- Key, Kibber, Hikkim and Langza
Day-wise Itinerary
An early start from Shimla for one of the great Indian road journeys: the old Hindustan–Tibet road along the Sutlej gorge via Narkanda and Rampur into Kinnaur. Ten to eleven hours with apple orchards, cliff-cut roads and the river far below. Reach Kalpa in the evening, opposite the Kinner Kailash range. Overnight in Kalpa.
